I think direct recording could be much more than it is today. Have been thinking about a couple of things that would make the feature much more usable.
When I record (for example) a two bar riff into a two bar sequence and hit the stop button just after the 2nd bar the mpc asks me if I want to keep the length 2 bars or change it to 3 bars. I think the MPC should "snap" to the closest bar marker so it doesn't matter if I press stop just before or just after the mark.
I think there should be an "sync to sequence length" option so (for example) if one records an audiotrack into a two bar sequence the recording would automatically stop at the two bar mark and the recording start to loop from then on.
It would also be cool if there were a "multiply" option so if you record a longer audiotrack file then the predefined sequence length (for example a 4 bar loop over a two bar sequence) the length of the rest of the tracks would be multiplied (for example a two bar drumpart or audiotrack would be repeated once) and the sequence length would change accordingly. (I realize that this is to some extent possible with simult seq, recording a longer seq over a shorter one).
Hope people agree (at least JJ)
