...I got rid of some of the noise. Turned out the volume on the JX-10 was turned down deep inside some menu....

System Shock: I have made a single demo sample of what I THOUGHT your bass should sound like. Just reply this and I'll upload it.

sorry for the delay phazer!

i can't explain a lot because my english sucks...so don't worry for the setup of knobs follow my indication approximately.

for the filter a light low pass with same setting of volume amp is good.

so don't worry and post som sounds without the mpc program; i must resample the sounds with effects.

System Shock: I have upload 3 wave files of basses I have not multisampled yet. (Some are rather noisy. I will fix that when I multi sample)

3 JX Basses - Single samples.rar - 0.30MB

Listen to them and say what you think and maybe what to change.

Can you use single samples like this? Don't you need samples for other notes/tones?
If you can use SINGLE samples then I can make alot og basses very quickly. What takes times is sampling 25 notes and processing 24 samples.

So can you use just single samples like the 3 I uploaded ("3 JX Basses - Single samples.rar") ?

I have made a synth bass program the spans from B01 - B16, the program has 3 samples for every note, so when you press harder another sample is played.

You can also use the sample without the program.

But please TRY the program (PGM), because I have spent alot of time on it...

I would recommend creating INST programs if you use OS2 or OS2XL. That way you could sample maybe 3-4 notes per octave (for example, C-E G#; or C-D#-F#-A). That should save you a lot of work.

Or you could create INST programs with only one sample (I do it from time to time) and just stretch that sample up and down as far as you want. But it sounds better with at least 3 samples per octave.

And thanks for your time! Very nice useable samples and programs!

I have 2 more bass sounds (with 2-3 different samples layered pr. pad). I'll upload them as soon as I am done making the programs.

About using 1 sample and stretch it over som note, maybe an entire keyboard. I did tricks like that when I worked with "instrument samplers" like Akai S3000xl, Yamaha A3000 and a few more. I messed around with keygroups, and those are nice for emulating instruments whose program need to fit on a 1,44 MB diskette.

But right now when I am making synth bass programs for MPC1000, I put a least 1 different samples pr note/pad, it just sounds kinda bad stretching those bass samples. I also layer 2-3 different samples pr. pad, so I have sampled 2-3 filter setting on the analog synth and then I choose a velocity range for both. I could need a better layer crossfade feature than the one in JJ OS2XL.

I am just finishing a great synth bass program for MPC1000 that spans two Pad Bank and has two different samples pr. pad.

I will upload it soon...

I have a new bass program ready for download.
It spans B01-B16 and C01-C16
There are no samples in the padbank A (just as the last one, forgot to tell, sorry)

There is 2 different samples for each pad (one for low velocity and one for high)
That means 32 x 2 = 64 different samples in this one...

(The program is called JX Bass02, because I started sampling it before 03).

Please give me feed back and stuff...

"JX-10 is a beast and I have the PG-800 programmer."

That sounds like one hell of a combo! I've never had the pleasure of working with either of these, but I am a huge Roland fan. Those programmers look incredable and are a great idea for editing those synths that were released at a time when everything was hidden in menus.
Thanks for posting this! I can't wait to check these samples out...

Can't we make an upload site of some kind? It is very difficult to run through 100s of fora to look for samples.

Isnt't there a web programmer in here, who can make a quick+dirty upload/download site for free MPC sounds made by us, the users...?
