Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just got this mpc2000xl and when I hook it up through my stereo it wont work... when I use my headphones I can get sound out of it but not with the outputs. Any ideas?

also when I have the headphones on I can get the preloaded drums to come up and they sound good. but when Im trying to sample a record it sounds all dirty and messed up. I bought a preamp hoping that would take care of the problem but Im still in the same spot.

Help a brotha out.

What kind of stereo are you using? You should really use studio monitors or hook up through a mixer. I would guess your stereo has an aux output, if your hearing sounds through your head phones you should be able to hear something from the outputs of the mpc. Good luck.

The stereo is just a Phillips mini system but It should do the trick. I thought maybe I needed a preamp to boost the signal but I got one and Im still having the same problem. Is it possible a mixer would do the trick? I cant think of any logical reason for it not to work so I was also thinking maybe something broke?

Nah man just the regular imputs. maybe I need to go into deep thought like like ODB in your AVI and I'll figure something out.

Don't take offense but...............do you have the main volume all the way up?

And what are you sampling off of(what type of TT and how is it connected)

AHH never mind I finally got it. One of the cables I bought wasnt working fresh from the store. I tried switching some of the cables but I must have used the bad one in the set up each time. Thanks for the help anyways.
