Hi Hat kinda mutes out after every 4th tap

Has anyone ever experienced this? Im using the mpc 2000xl and I have a hi hat assigned to a pad , and i tap it 4 times and every 4th hit the hi hat kinda mutes out but not all the way. Seems like it goes from 44khz to 22khz or something but only the 4th hit, the first 3 are fine??

check and see if its muted on playback. What i notice is that the clicks from the metronome are oddly louder sometimes than others so sometimes I dont hear my hat, but its recording just fine. Also is this only when recording, when you just tap the pad several times does tap 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 etc always most out? at any rate if you hear it on playback its fine, just the weird click thing.
