hello

i can't understand what's the problem with my mpc.
is a long time period problem, starting experiencing 2 years ago.

firstly it starts triggering every pads when i hit one pad (whatever pad i hit, they all trigger all pads)
than i've sent it in assistance, they said it hasn't any problem, and they send it back.
and was functioning properly! for a year i've experienced no problems.
than now, couple of months ago it starts triggering every pads.. than goes ok (without doing anything), than the same problem, shut down, turn on.. and goes ok. so on a couple of times.

today i've turned it on and the pads doesn't works at all. i mean i can't choose the sub menu, nothing.

so i opened it.. just to see.. and was fairly ok, clean, a little dust i've sprayed out with compressed gas, than i've taken off the screws of the pads support, i've taken off the screw of the pads circuit, just to see.. if there was dust, if there were some false contact.

nothing..

i've put on the case and turn it on.. wasn't working... i've closed it, every screw.. and now is working. but i've seen now that it is triggering every pads.

i don't know maybe now i turn it off and back on and works again, but what is the problem?

how can i fix it?

thanks

i've put one hand with all fingers over the pads and i've pressed the pads moving them circularly (as little as it's possible) and now they works, they trigger properly.

but the strange thing is that before the doesn't works at all!! i've taken out the pads and i've triggered directly on the sensor (with the rear of a pen, very delicately) and they doesn't works!

the other time is happened the sensors were working properly without pads, while this time they weren't working at all...

and now they works.

what could be the problem!?

hello

come on, someone helps me :P please

i need to better understand if i will solve the problem only changing the pad sensors or it's another problem.

are those symptoms normal of faulty pad sensors?

thanks

My Pads stopped working too. Firstly the second line of pads from down to up was broken, it was triggering not all the others but some others when triggered. But today all the pads stopped working. I can´t even go to the load or other menus. I´M **** UP WITH THIS SHIT... I have this MPC for like 6 months or less, and used a few times, not much. So I wonder that this **** 2500 is a peace of shit compared to the 2000 and earlier series, that I know some people that have been using for years without having problems with the pads. **** !

did any of you check to see if your internal memory was set to autoload? because if it wasn't, then it's not going to know to load the demo songs and samples, so it would make sense that your pads aren't producing any output. i guess the first step in troubleshooting this is to check which program is selected on track 01 of sequence 01. odds are, if it's set to 'Program01' or 'OFF', there's just not any samples loaded.

if that is the case, i would then load a program file you've used before, you should have output. if you still don't after this step, I guess you'd probably just want to call VST [if you're on the West Coast].

*Also, it would be a good idea to make sure you re-installed the pads correctly. I've been told that if you put them in upside down, operators have reported issues.*

No it´s not that. The pads don´t work even to do the functions like LOAD or something (mode + Pad). A friend of mine told me that could be OS problem since this mpc is linked to my computer, and maybe a virus or something can be **** up my system. What do you think ? If is that, how can I reset my OS ?

If the pads don't function at all, the problem is likely a hardware issue. If they function inconsistently, it is more likely an internal connection issue (wiring and such), but still could be OS. Has anyone tried opening it up and cleaning the pad sensors. I had a minor pad issue when I first got mine and cleaning the pad sensors resolved it. Definitely try that before taking it for repair.
it's like...the factory that puts them together in Taiwan likely has a lot of dust in the air
and the shipping container that the boxes come over in is probably insanely dirty
and who know how long it sits in a dusty warehouse until the store you buy it from orders it.
A lot of problems with electronics in general can be solved by cleaning them out and getting rid of the dust.
Something to try at the very least.
peace

How did you cleaned ? I cleaned the pads and pad sensors with a dry brush. I also disconnected it from the little board it´s connected, and cleaned some dust on the board with a rubber. Nothing changed my pads still all dead. It´s strange because they never got half working... they were working fine and I made a trip to do a show, for like 3 days, and when I come, it wasn´t working anymore.

this has happened to me, its intermittent, i think its happened to others. sometimes it happens, and i dont even realize it............its not always all the pads dont work, or 1 pads trigger all pads, its a variation of that.

sometimes ill hit mode and pad and have to hit pad twice or whatever to get shit to work. sometimes 1 pad will trigger that pad row, or 1 other random pad. its wierd, unpredicitable, but never crippling (i ususually restart and it goes away)

i thought maybe it was my jjos, not sure now. what os are you using?

Has anyone solved this problem yet?

It's happening to me now.

I Think I'm gonna downgrade to a 2000 or maybe give up Akai altogether.

Hello... this is my first post here, but a longtime lingerer. This recently has become an issue for me also. In addition, I don't have the JJ os, just the regular programs it came with, so this is a proven issue for factory models as well. My main issue is the pads are triggering multiple samples to the one pad that I hit. And its on various pads, and pad banks, and occurs randomly. The problem won't go away. Strangley, the song will play normal in song sequence mode. Someone please help all of us.

Now I know why Dre has to use 5 at a time.....I hear nothing but problems with MPC's, I love how they sound and want one, but I'm afraid I'll be buying someone else's problem if I buy one used.

I had this problem once, when I first got my mpc2500 with the stock AkaiOS (about 3 years ago). I'd hit a pad and it'd trigger some other pads, until I reset my machine. I installed JJOS after a week and it's never happened again.
