Is there a certain type of turntable I should stay away from? I'm looking to buy a cheap set up from ebay.

theres so many diferent tables and uses for them that its a prefered thing..

stay away from belt drive and stay away from portable. Look for something with a needle that can be swapped out. Any direct drive TT will do. Its not the table that matters really its the needle thats most important. So even if you pick up a BS Gemini TT (yea i said it :lol:
