Korg MS2000 MIDI MPC2000xl ?

Hi this is my fist post....

Had a MPC2000xl for 6 months or so, read the manual couple times getting most things
goin pretty well....... except.

In the man ch3: there's a section Recording with external MIDI equip.

Ive tried setting my korg up as it says in this chapter but cant get a sound out of it!...

Any ideas where i might be goin wrong?

Im trying to avoid using my laptop for a bit, so thought it would be good if i could
just record my korg straight into the MPC as a track.

Like lampdog said what kind of korg are you using. Im gonna assume its a 25 key. Either way this setup will pertain to any keyboard.

1st take your two midi cables and connect it from midi out A on the mpc to midi in on the korg. Then take the second midi cable and connect it midi out on the korg to midi in 1 on the mpc.

Then press to shift midi which takes you to midi setup and change it to the right connections. "The connections you made in the back of the mpc"

Once you do that go to your mpc main screen. Under the track section change whichever track you want to record midi to from Drum to Midi A Channel 1.

Then all you have to do is test to see if you get sound by hitting the pads on your mpc. If you hear sounds then everything is in proper working order.

Also there has been hundreds of threads with this same question so check the search button next time.

I think I was just playing the keys on
my korg when had it hooked up, not
the pads on the mpc. (can you play the keyboard??)

I'll do a search and check the other threds then too...
