Ok, I took a look, and its true. The speak about missing mpc 1000 features like timestretching and then quoate akai professional reagrding plans for future updates. They (Akai) do say "It is planned", according to the magazine, which is no tabloid.

I hope the hardware is timestretch ready. I read a small article on the web in which N. Nakamura (the head Tech at AKAI Pro headquarters in Yokohama) says timestretching would raise the cost of the mpc1000 and you'll need more cpu power.

no reply from akai by the way...

ill try forwarding the same email to the UK email addy on their site....

seems odd to me that theres only one source for this.. if they was gonna publicly release it then i woulda thought they woulda went all out...

still cant see this happening.. but maybe im just being pessimistic :)

ill keep ya posted on any replies

i agree; i really can't see this happening. the 1k was never meant to replace the 2kxl. the 1k isnt meant to replace a computer based recording set-up, the 1k complements a computer recording set-up and is supposed to be used as part of a computer based studio (USB port CF card).... i really really really doubt the 'advanced' features of the 2kxl ie: zoneing, timestretch, sample reverse will be implemented into the 1k.

Until i read something straight from AKAI confirming the updates i aint gonna beleive none of this.
