No what I'm saying is that you DONT have to copy the data just to chop out the kick and snare... the only time you need to copy the data is when you wanna edit the data itself (like normalizing, fade in/fade out, truncate, crossfade looping etc.).
But anyway, its not important right now. Just stick to PARAMS ONLY and get the basics down. I'm doing the same... But I have the advantage of already being familiar with the ASR-X...
