I suspect you may have considerably less than the 16 Mb maximum in your unit.
Switch on your ASR and while its booting go to your pdf and look up 'BLOCKS' as I believe there is a table there that tells you how much memory you have in your ASR depending on the amount of free blocks you have available (before loading any instruments / sequences).
I think about 34,000 blocks free corresponds to 16 mb but again cannot remember exactly.

31,274 to be exact...I cheated a little :) . But mark is right, check your available memory (under EDIT-SYSTEM).

Tried both.

Try again.

Seriously. Im not tryna be a dik. If you can't find this command you have a MAJOR problem on ur hands.

Floppy's only is no way to live in 2010

Oh believe me I tried for a week... I'm gonna try and make an OS disk using EPSDisk or Giebler EDE. And if that doesn't work, I'll be ordering an OS floppy (unless somebody in DC/MD/VA wants to make me one one...), just to if that's the problem.

i'm going to order the 16 mb expansion on ebay, i thought it'd be expensive, it's only 15 bucks. i'm also getting floppy disks.. everything is so cheap! i guess thats another good thing about using this machine, since its old everything is cheaper.. i never thought i'd ever use floppy disks again

Checking for memory and any expansions boards should have been one of the first things you look
for when starting up with the gear so you KNOW what your working with.

i just checked, without the expansion it's blocks

another question that i couldn't find in the manual or this thread, you know how on the mpc there is a "Note On" or "One Hit" option? does the asr let you set it to "one hit"? (so that you just touch the key and the sample plays out even if you release your finger).. and also, mute groups. is there a way to make it so when i hit the next key the other one stops?

I don't remember any "mute groups".

Look into and play around with your individual samples with EDIT AMP, EDIT ENV.

Lotta things in this old keyboard are MANUAL meaning, more hands.

env amp not hard level or soft level but times last one should be like 20 put that up to 99 now your notes should play all the way

and then go to layer and the first option is off switch that to legato

whenever someone is sequencing with there asr10 do they get a volume studder problem where sometimes the volume softens in the sequence playing for a couple seconds. i know the asr has a limiter on it where samples dont play all the way as loud sort of like a compressor. but still sometimes i get a jitter does anyone get this problem?

maybe solution is to turn down the wavesamples and just turn up my monitors

how do i apply an effect to just one wavesample? i think i need to like resample it with the effect on? how do i do that?

also, is there a way to just save a wavesample? when i get all my floppy disks in the mail i want to start sampling things and saving them and eventually be able to just pull samples from a library of them that i keep on floppies.. i understand thats how some people work, how can i save the samples to the floppy disks
