Is this a decent deal for an MPC1000? I have never had a drum machine before, but I use ableton live and other audio software.
Some of my main concerns:
the back of the MPC is black -- i was led to believe this means it has new pads. I have also read it might have the old pads.. what is the worst thing that can happen with the old pads?
Also, the person selling it to me says that it only has 16 seconds of internal sample memory. Can't I used a flash card to get more memory or can someone briefly explain hard drive upgrades to me??
Third, I have a lot of resources, including the manual and ebooks teaching me how to use the MPC1000. However it is all written for the standard OS (which it has). My natural inclination, however, is to get JJOS - as seems to be very popular.
Can someone explain very basically the difference between the OS's? Will I be able to read instruction in the regular OS and apply it to JJOS?
Normally I would research this all on my own but I am being forced to make a decision on this one quickly (not because the seller is pushing me).
