Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So I was all psyched to finally get a card reader today, I happen to live a short drive from the psism.com folks so I was gonna drive over and pick one up.

I went to akaipro to download OS v1.2 so I could use 1GB cards.

Here's the problem:

-I unzip the file which is called mpc2kxl.zip

-and i get a file called MPC2KXL.BIN.

-i then doubeclick that sucker and StuffitExpander gives me a text box containing:

The file "/Users/xxxxxxxxxx/Desktop/ Recent Audio/v1.2/MPC2KXL.BIN" does not appear to be compressed or encoded. It is advised that you obtain further information about the contents of this file from the sender or provider of the file.

am i being completely retarded somehow?
i figured this would be the easiest part of switching out the drives.
am i not supposed to expand on my computer, but rather just put the MPC2KXL.BIN file directly on a zip disk, and load it onto the mpc?

as always, any thoughts much appreciated.

don't try to open the BIN file on your PC just put on ZIP and load into your MPC

Pretty sure you need a floppy drive installed to update the OS.

Maybe StuffIt Expander is no good for this? :?:

Remove this stuffitexpander programm and download Winrar archiver to convert the ZIP file to BIN.

Then put the BIN on zip and load the 1.20

This will work

Formatted Zip in MPC per MPCHunter suggestion and now MPC sees it.

Thank You-felt like i was banging my head against a wall of 'no-you-don't'

No, you are supposed to be able to install the os from a SCSI drive as well as a floppy drive.
