Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. Using a MPC with a DAW doesn't even approach the level of integration you get with Maschine. Oh, and if you're thinking of a generic midi controller setup, like say a MPD or triggerfinger and Live/Reason/whatever, that kind of setup is still tied to the mouse and still feels like using a computer. Maschine does not feel like that at all. Instead it feels like using a MPC but it goes beyond the MPC in capability. Watch some youtube videos or better yet, go to guitar center and play with it. Then you'll know what I'm talking about.

I visited my local retailer and played with Mashine. It felt like I expected...a controller attached to software that resided on a PC...nothing more. It didn't provide me anything that would make me stop using an MPC. Instead of talking about things in general...give some specifics in this or another thread.

Because there are plenty of people who haven't "got it" yet about Maschine. While it may not be for everyone, I'm sure there are many who would appreciate to find out what it really is, since there's so many misconceptions and ignorance about it.

It's also nice to show them that other companies are doing something that Akai failed to do, which is to innovate instead of riding on the success of a product that was designed a few decades ago.

It's Maschine (the German spelling), not Machine. Anyway, when I look for innovation in music gear, I look at things like the actual music gear and what it does. I couldn't give a rat's ass about what it's called (in my humble opinion).

Hi Guys,
I called the guys at the US Akai office and the UK Akai office they say its still a valid line. I want to get it as an upgrade from the 2500.
Digital Village and other UK stores still have it.
Where did you get all this from?

you know... as much as I am considering the maschine for my own music creation... you are making me not want to buy it simply because I know you got one. and thats sad, because I come to these threads to see opinions and comments from the mpc community (who's opinions I value a lot when it comes to gear) and all I see is you acting like a fanboy who never had a piece of music gear untill the maschine.. nobody cares if you think it is a mpc killer... people are probably making better beats on their mpc500's than you are with your NI maschine. Get the **** out of here with your linear way of thinking..
maschine vs mpc? well how about maschine vs computer? oh wait... you need both of those to make music.. some people need both the mpc and maschine in their studios to do everything they have in mind.
