dmarz45 wrote:Yo if you download the PDF manual from the Emu website right on page 1 under the "Sequencing" heading on the bottom of the page it says "The ASR-10 is also a 16-track sequencing workstation with complete mixdown capabilities." WTF is the deal with that???

Ayo that's not for sequencing.

That's for when you do song mode i.e , joining multiple sequences together.

Once you have your arrangement, you can then record 8 more tracks on top of the original.

But it's not real 16 cuz even tho u can mute the new 8 you can't mess wDa otha 8 cuz the tracks are "sharing"

So no, you will never be able to fuk w16 tracks at the same time.

to my knowledge you cant have two different tracks on one track its just 8 tracks i mean you can consolidate 2 tracks to 1 but that has nothing to do with it

I think it might mean that u can use the other 8 tracks for sequencing external midi maybe?

haha I see.. it doesnt matter too much anyway Im just using the ASR sequencer temporarily until I get my MPC 3000 back in a day or so... Im just gonna use my ASR for chopping samples and ill use my 3000 for drums and for the sequencer most importantly...

yeah.. the ASR sequencer is honestly not THAT bad I could live with it but I have the 3000 which really blows it away... Its like u get the best of both worlds... the 3000 SUCKS at chopping samples but the sequencer rules... The ASR is great at chopping but the sequencer sucks so its the perfect marriage...

+ 1

You learn to work with the sequencer - it is basic but does what its supposed to do.

Yep.

8 for seq, 8 for song, but they share the same 8.

Im going to get 16MB of ram for my ASR...

Found this on EBAY for $39. Anybody tried this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/16MB-RAM-MEMORY-UPG ... 980wt_1000

I found a cheaper seller a few weeks ago, who also had the "8 chip ram". It was about 19 bucks, but I cant find it anymore...

Can anybody recommend something that works fine, but is a little cheaper than $39.

Thanks!

C.

Thinking of copping an ASR from a guy for $500 in mint condition. It doesn't have SCSI but I realized at this point I'm more interested in finding a mint condition one than one that has the SCSI. Something I'm wondering about is whether the ASR actually reads .WAV's or you have to convert them .EFE's? I am hoping to get this powerful tool to combine with my MPC1000 and hopefully I can learn them at the same time and make great music.
