You couldn't be more wrong about that. Using a typical software program and matching it with a generic midi controller is too tedious and doesn't come close to the workflow you get with hardware. And needing to use the mouse all the time... forget about it. That's why Maschine was created. Because it really feels like you're using a hardware machine and it has the fast workflow that you could only previously get from hardware, yet doesn't have the limitations of hardware because it has all the power and flexibility of computer software, not to mention the much superior integration with DAWs compared to MPCs.

Was it Jim Bowen that left them because they were only interested in making Pro-52 "good enough" and not the same, or was it one of the other Sequential guys ?

Would be nice to see them innovate instead of ripping off other peoples designs .

Three months later, how do you like the MPC60? You have these three legendary samplers, how do you choose which sampler to use? Do you use the MPC60 to sequence the sounds of the SP1200 as well or do you have the SP1200 synced to the MPC60?

I have to say it just has a whole different feel. i like the layout better than my 3000. the bigger screen is a plus too. i dont use the sp and mpc together. i go through different moods and i pick either the sp or the mpc60 to sequence my 950. i love that my 950 is maxed out so i can have to the sp and mpc60 for mostly drums/percussion and small samples. i love the 950's sound over both mpcs. I gotta be honest the 60 is not dirty sounding like many claim. it got great bottom end like the 3000, but it doesnt have that charm/ magic like emu,and ensoniq. The s950 is a totally differnt beast and does not sound like a 60 at all like people try to say. 950 is dirty sounding in a smooth way....and the low pass filter/oh my goodness

I try to stop using my sp1200 all the time and sell it, and end up running back to it. it is the best sounding drum machine hands down!! Still my favorite sequencer over any mpc. If it could transfer note on messages, and could read on multiple midi channels, i would sell both my mpc's.


i still have my asr10, but its not getting any love at the moment because of space issues. but the asr/ensoniq line sounds better than any akai product ever made as well. sorry if it sounds like im hating on akai, this is just truth on sound comparisons.....
