internal zip drive power issue?

hi..i just try to install a internal iomega zip drive in my XL. my problem is that i can not get the drive to power on . i used the same cable that powers the stock floppy drive which works fine. the weird thing is i can power up the zip drive inside a usb hard drive case that i use for external hard drives, which prove to me the zip drive is fine. i wonder if its some type of power consumption issue.?

There shouldn't be any power problem - the MPC can certainly power a zip drive. Does the front LED light up when you power on the sampler or when you insert a zip disk?

power light doesnt come on when the drive is plug into the XL. but it does light up when i install it in a usb hard drive case that i use for external hard drives,

Is this the same power cable that was powering your floppy drive? Did that work?

yes..same cable i use with the stock floppy drive. i plug the floppy drive back up in the XL and it works find...i just dont get it. also i have two zip drives, both will not power up in the mpc but both do work in my usb hard drive case and also my Pc..

thanks guys i fix it....the kit i brought had the Red (5vdc)/Black (gnd) on the wrong set pins on the power adaptor. i made another from an old pc...its works.....

yep it was connected to 12vdc...the bad thing about it..is that its the set they sent me....

i got it from a ebay seller...

We sell adapter cables specifically for the MPC that allow you to plug into your existing floppy drive power cable and attach to a zip drive or card reader drive. And you don't have to cut any wires inside your MPC. It is found on our Accessories page. Maybe we can spare someone else this hassle, since it seems to pop up here on the forums on a regular basis.
