I just got my 2500 up and running in my main studio, im using xl 1.28. I notice that everything i sample comes out a bit slower or detuned then the original. Im going directly into the unit either from a synth or my gtr. its always a half to a whole step lower. Thats just play back, not even assigned to a pad.
I have the mpc manual that you can down load from akai and also i looked at the jj os online manual, did a search here (because by now every topic has got to be covered) and still came up blank.
Also can you change from Drums, Midi, Audio with out going to that field (not a big deal just checking)
Its been a while working with hardware, i have a mpc2000xl used it for years then I bought logic pro and jumped on the software side. But after handing over dollar after dollar to keep my rig current i decided to come back home.

Have you got anything hooked up to the digital in? If you have, make sure that whatever is feeding into the mpc is clocked at 44100. If not it can mess up the mpc's internal clock and slow down your samples. Also, any changes to the sample rate externally whilst connected to the mpc's digi in can really make things start acting weird too. I've had this happen quite a bit, but most problems seem to occur when I use the digi in and digi out at the same time; in this situation I make sure to set my mpc as master sample clock.

Maybe your pad params may have already been detuned (from a prior program).
Maybe your placing your sample on an already detuned pad and/or program.
