Problems playing bass on the "16 level" thing

So, I have the gist of how to scale the bass sound across the pads via the 16 level button.

So, I start playing my sequence intending to play the bassline, and for some reason, I hit a pad (lets say on 01:01 of the seq) and then try to play another bass note on 01:02 and it WON'T play.

in other words, Im trying to play the pads like a keyboard...but they dont respond like a keyboard.

any suggestions?

haha, this happens on my 1000 all the time, so annoying. if you wana play 1/32 notes close together, you can try really hard to concentrate on separating the notes as you press the pads. or you can try to put those extra notes in on a separate track. hope this helps
