Mac / MPC 2500 compatibility problem

Hi people,

The problem is this: when I plug my MPC 2500 to the mac, the mac is no longer showing an image of the mpc on the left hand side of the finder window. I.e. it is no longer acknowledging that the mpc is plugged into it.

I read the chapter of the manual on loading and saving, as well as the chapter on connecting the mpc 2500 via usb to the mac, and there are no answers there for me, so I am asking you guys!

Has anyone else had this problem before?

Go into disk utilities and see if it shows up there.
Also , of course make certain that you have plugged the usb cord all the way in on both devices and that you have followed proper procedure with the MPC.
I have a mac and a 2500 as well as a 500 and have had zero problems connecting through usb.
Make sure the cord is ok too.
If it still doesnt work , let us know.
And , in order for us to help you further , in the future , when describing a computer related problem , help us help you by telling us WHICH mac you have and what OS version you are running. These things could make a difference.

I dont think the problem is the cord though.

To elaborate -

When I first plugged it in, I was successfully getting the MPC 2500 image appearing in the finder window on the mac.

But on the MPC it was saying:

"For Mac OS, please eject the mounted disk on your mac, before you leave this page".

There was nothing in the 'loading', 'saving' or 'using with a computer' sections of the manual about this either, so I ran a search on this forum to see if anyone else had had this problem. Someone had indeed had this problem before, and was given this advice:

"When you connected the MPC to your mac, and the 'white icon' (the drive) pops up, it is connected. That's when that messege 'please mount...' appears. What it means is 'Please drag the 'white icon' drive into the paper bin. That way you disconnect the mpc properly. If you never did that before, that's prolly the reason why you can't load **** on the card. It's busted for the mac. Format the card."

I followed the advice in bold above and dragged the icon of the mpc 2500 into the trash bin.

And now I am in my current predicament!

Any help is much appreciated, as there is nothing in the manual about this so far as I can see.

Yes, I have one of those in the slot

I think it always says "For Mac OS, please eject the mounted disk on your mac, before you leave this page". - that doesn't actually mean it's mounted though.

as mentioned, you might need to press F6 [MOUNT] key on the mpc before it mounts

I don't know about the Mac side of things - was the MPC mounted when you dragged the icon to the trash? did you try the suggestion in the other thread of emptying the trash?

Try this

turn the Mac off
Connect the MPC and mount it
Power the Mac on
Let it sit about 5 min

Let me know if it comes up that way.

Yeah man, I've pressed the mount / F6 button a number of times and in as many different ways as I can think of!

Still no luck.
