Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Today I got a Midi cable and I figured that I could hook it into my MPC 2000 and use the sounds on my XR 20 for my MPC but right now I cant get it to work. Has anybody here done this before or know if its even possible?

Hey, I guess it's not possible to play XR-20 sounds that way, because MIDI signal doesn't transfer audio signals, only note commands.

It's very similiar to havin a wired remote controller for your tv the xr being the tv and the mpc 2000 being the remote control

hook your midi cable to the midi out a or b on your 2000 then hook the other end of the cable to the midi input on the xr20

go to the midi screen on the 2000 and make sure it is send out midi on the a or b that you have the cable running from

make sure the xr 20 is set to recieve the midi commands,

you still have to have the audio output of the xr 20 hooked up to speakers or mixer etc to hear the sounds..

your 2000 will be your your controller though, you will use your 2000's pads to trigger the xr 20 sounds

midi is not sound itself it is note on/off start/stop commands

when linked up via midi pressing whichever pad on your 2000 sends a message to your xr 20 to play a sound,,, whichever one is assigned to the same note/channel,, the sound itself is still coming from the xr
