Yeah.. I have a 2500, but if there was a 3000 on ebay I'd bid on it up to probs about £750.
But I want an SP1200 or SP12 turbo.. so I'd pay more for an SP1200 than I would for a 3000 due to owning a 2500.
You can def do stuff to your sounds before sampling in the 2500 anyways... It's down to how you cut and filter and also the outboard you put it through.... and there are a lot of manipulation options with JJOS.

I don't use the JJos yet. My 2500 is stable and has never frozen, lost a file or acted up in any way. So I am not sure that I want to change to the OS. I have researched the JJos, but I am hesitant.

I was blown away with the sound of the 2500 when I first got it. It even seemed to 'improve' the sound of some loops or samples I re-sampled from other gear. Maybe the 3K sounds "better" to some (subjective), but don't let this discussion give you the idea that the 2500 don't sound good - 'cos it's good.

However, one of THE MAJOR reasons for getting a 2500 (or 1K) is so you can run JJOS. If you don't know why that would be a reason, check the JJ section of these forums. I can only say here what the fanboys have repeated time and time again... once you use JJ you never look back.

this is something i doubt - probably you didn´t realize that the master compressor and the master eq on the mpc2500 are on by default and they change the sound a bit. the master level of the mpc also can have an impact on percieved sound quality.

as always it is very tricky to really judge this without doing a real side to side blindtest - psycological our ears are fooled very easy and mostly think of something louder as sounding better.

personally i think there is a difference in sound quality between the mpc2500 and the mpc3000, with the former beeing a little cleaner and the 3000 a little more warm and rough. most of all people i asked could not tell a major difference - when the could tell the difference to a 12bit sampler everytime. so in the end it comes down to personal preference and need for the features and possibilities of the newer machine.
