What to do after putting in a hard drive?

I put the hard drive in now what do i do to get the mpc 4000 to see it?

Does it show up at all, even as a unsupported disk or something?

Check your cable connection to the drive to make sure nothing has been pinched or crimped.

Yeah how do you have the steps

And how do i reset the 4000 to factory setting

Hit the load button, then you'll see the "utility" option. Press f2 then up at the "do" option, select or scroll to "full format".

The cd drive doesn't show up or the hard drive.

If you have a spare ata/ide cable laying around, try that out first to see if it is indeed a bad cable.

Hopefully you learned your lesson. Don't put the unit "back together" until you know it is fully functioning.


Why did you replace the HDD in the first place? Did the CD drive work before opening the MPC?
