Does it show up at all, even as a unsupported disk or something?

Check your cable connection to the drive to make sure nothing has been pinched or crimped.

Hit the load button, then you'll see the "utility" option. Press f2 then up at the "do" option, select or scroll to "full format".

If you have a spare ata/ide cable laying around, try that out first to see if it is indeed a bad cable.

Why did you replace the HDD in the first place? Did the CD drive work before opening the MPC?
