That looks right, the other part number posted in the bible for the MPC60 was this:

it looks like the same specs as the one you posted except it has 2 leads instead of the 4. I have one left over from the last MPC3000 maintenance job i did on my previous 3K before i got my LE

If it was cost effective to save by a few people ordering 50 or 100 of them to split i would go for it but the postage might offset the cost difference anyway! :)

honestly. 15 bucks plus 7 for shipping is a little better than 7 bucks a piece. they are 22 cents each, and I bought two rotary encoders for my 2kxl too for that price. :D


now I am debating if I should go all the way with valluxi or will the buttons be enough.

I want new pad sensors too. they all work, but don't have a ton of definition.

yeah these online places are really raping you at the $7 price and should be ashamed! Ok maybe charge $2 for a 0.20 for you having to buy a whole crap load of them but really if you paid them to get all the tact switches to replace on a MPC you would be spending $100 there instead of $5.... :twisted: While i was in my previous MPC3000 i replaced the red LED's with blue ones and was happy with that little upgrade. I did have to use resistors to bring the brightness of the LED's down quite a bit as if you just put the blue right in with nothing it will blind you! :mrgreen: If i can find a pic i will post it.

Another thing i have heard from the previous owner who had the sensors replaced in my MPC, bought the after market ones from one of the 2 places online and the new ones were not as sensitive as the ones he had just replaced! SO he sent the 3k to Forat who even tested the output of the pads and they were 70% of what they should have been. They were then replaced with the Akai part. Just a thought! There is some way to see the pad/sensor output level I just dont recall what screen that is, it might be that you don't even need to replace them at all.

How many tact switches did you buy then?

I would def suggest the Vailixi over new sensors! Just the storage options and disk formatting by itself is worth it! You dont have to get the extra star title stuff unless you really want to customize it out that much but for $200 it takes the 3000 alot closer to being a new machine! OF course there is still some things i would like to have done in new revisions of the OS but I dont think i really would go back to using the older 3.11 OS again!

I would be curious about the voltage on the led's... they are a non-standard side mount, and a bit smaller than average too.


So does valluxi allow pad sensitivity adjustment? like JJ?



I order 60... to have a few around for later.


@ Rohan.... isn't implementing the "scroll to next main trim value" as easy as writing code lines that say (forgive retardedness of this) ["If TrimValue=1.999.999 AND CursorValueINPUT=+1 then TrimValue =2.000.000"]

sorry for downplaying the "easiness" factor... I know there are millions of other issues with codespace etc...

After your mods, the workflow is probably 50 percent faster....with this implementation, it would be 75 percent faster.

I also just ordered the parts to put an internal ZIP100 inside my rig. Does everyone that runs a internal zip use the "make the external port an internal one" method?


ALSO... for the hardcore... Whats up with card readers anyway... are they somehow modding ATAPI IDE devices into the scsi chain? Is there a port on the motherboard Im not thinking about?

Is it a card reader that is set up for 50 pin scsi protocol


Parts for the mod were a total of 35 bucks shipped. seems pretty cheap considering I will never have to lug an external around anymore... and can probably smash a 2.5" hard drive in the chain (probably max size of 1 gig I'm assuming)


Whos got this licked... seems like 275 for a internal or external card reader seems like RETARDED PRICING TO ME. ****... ITS simple SCSI parts.

I will check out the resistor i used on each LED to make them drop to the right voltage. I used regular 3mm blue LED's and mounted them from the back of the PCB so they were sitting flush with the front. Its probably possible to buy the same kind of surface mount LED's in blue i just didn't want to spend the time to find them as i already had a bunch of the 3mm blue around. I dont have the MPC3k i did the mod on but I am going to be doing the same to the CUSTOM 3k of my friends I have at my house so I will take some pictures and notes when i do that mod.

I can take some pics of the SCSI mod that FORAT did to the same 3K, you need to solder a ribbon cable onto the external SCSI part PCB and from there go to a correct SCSI end for that cable. This way you still keep the external SCSI port too. If you are good with a soldering iron that is an easy mod and SCSI 4 Samplers sells the internal card reader for about $100.

so that means 3.1 can run a card reader?


I believe the soldering can be avoided by using a splitter... but yeah I just soldered 53 tact switches tonight, plus one and a data wheel encoder on my 2000xl tonight too.

:lol: Ah, but Grub, that is like saying the Mona Lisa is only paint! It's what we do with those wires that is so very worthwhile. Way better than attempting to solder the thing yourself or even worse, shipping it to Forat and paying him $300.

Today i replaced the tactswitches on my 3k. I was searching for other than the ALPS switches, cause i couldn't get them in germany and didn't want to pay 20,- shipping. I used these:

And they do a good job. The handling is like before, but now something happens when i hit a button.
I paid 13,- for the switches and shipping and it took 2 days to get them here.
