1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_bit_depth <---- That will explain far more efficiently than I can.

2. On the JJOS website there is a fairly concise manual to help you out.

3. This is really your decision. You need to ask yourself what features you need and then compare the two MPCs to see which will be the most suitable. To be honest if you haven't mastered the 1000, there's no point upgrading until you can make full use of it in my opinion. Just get the OS update for your 1000 and enjoy the benefits.

That's from a very quick search. You need to help yourself a bit more here mate. These are pretty simple questions that you could answer yourself by looking at the manual, and/or google searching

As far as i'm aware it will only read samples that are 16 bit or lower.

You don't need feedback because none of us here can make that decision for you. Like I said before read up on the differences between the two and see if the 4000 has any advantages for YOU.

Yes, there will be a program out there that will rip your files and organise them. But I don't know if you're using MAC, PC etc... so I can't answer any more.

Good luck.

the 1k can only use 16bit samples, no more, no less

the 4k does 16bit or 24bit samples, and can sample at 44KHz, 48Khz or 96Khz

the JJOS bit converter doesn't actually convert to a different bitrate, it just emulates a lower bit rate. The sample stays as 16bit, but gets crunched to sound as though it had been sampled at a lower bitrate.

Dat why i want it lot easier on sampleing. but will be worth it even though no longer sold..

Akai told me lot people been requsting for there mpcs to be like 4000. but they did nuthn yet.

Dat Tee and Ech be bringing people dooown.

You do know you can get batch converters to just convert an entire sample library to 16bit 44.1khz right? It's not like you have to do it one by one or anything.

yes takes while sometime convert long while than im to tired do anythang.

Yes i know there batch converters to just convert an entire sample library
but finding the right one is so hard. some free some not.

Also is there way get mpc play samples with same name.
like some my samples say Eq clean guitar 1 and Eg clean guitar 2.
but will only play 1st one. how change dat?? cuz so many samples say dat.

When you extract a part of a sample, it renames it sequentially by adding a number at the end. So Eq clean guitar 1 and 2 would not be the same name. My 1000 does this automatically under JJOS 4.85. It really isn't that difficult.

mordecai1989 wrote:Well when i go load screen the mpc only reads Eq clean guitar 1 not Eg clean guitar 2 cuz sample to long i guess.
how do i fix this??? jjos???mpc 5000???

Something isnt right. You should be able to scroll through all of the samples that you have on your card or hard drive and play each one before loading it.
