Maschine vs MPC 4000

I got a maschine a while back,window stock,and the screen was faint.Had a lil go on it and decided to focus on the 4ooo.To me the 4 had a lot of charm.And that in music is important to me.Wether i make better music on it i cant say.Anyway i returned it back to the shop and forgot id copied the sample library on me hard drive!! Lots of top artists are positive about maschine software tho.speedwise and no ones complaining about the groove factor.Time will tell..Mpc s will last forever and a day for sure.Tons of pro s still using the mp3000.whts that 20 years old?its all good...............

Actually the same I wasn't using maschine for a minute because despite the ease in editing on maschine and the large library I ended back my 4k cuz of the groove and feel I had with it. I even sampled some kits into my 4k also after at first failing to properly sync the two together along with the chromatic pads layout of the 4k and maschine not matching. I was until yesterday using 4k and maschine separately with the majority of my recent production strictly on the 4k. When I saw the video I knew that JD's engineer had to figure out the.setup for him to get it to work. So I went back via the iPad (it is a big difference and a relief to find info via iPad than a desktop computer for long manuals) recheck the PDF manual and found the midi setup functions and now I can sequence everything on the 4k matching pad per pad. You are right that with a 60, SP1200, 3k or any mpc you can sequence any software like a mpc 60 and S950 combo.

Yes indeed mpcs will last forever and work in tandem with whatever new soft sampler that are release seems like a lot pros work in part this way too.

I've always been on the software side of things Ableton Live mostly, and then I bought Maschine. I realized very quickly after a couple months with it that hardware was best for me, so I sold it and ordered an mpc1000. Everything I did on the software side of things was just to mimic what an mpc is, at least my worflow. From Live's drum racks to Maschine's hardware based approach, I think I'm gonna be happier with the mpc, but only time will tell.

Are there additional videos with JD using Maschine? I remember the time when everyone was hyped that he used the MV instead of an MPC.

The truth is...he mostly uses an MPC 60. In the video I saw, he just sampled Maschine's sounds into his MPC 60. So that really doesn't qualify him as a Maschine user.

Off base he didn't sample anything!!!! JD is sequencing on the mpc 60 only keeping all the samples in maschine which I also do too from JD's example. The best of both world's really the effects and sounds all laid out and if you don't like the kit it is easy to switch even as the sequence plays. It isn't necessary to sample into the mpc if you already have two to three samplers for playback. Just go old school and use maschine as a module like a S950 and a MPC 60.

All that is need was to set up the midi to notes and it's a done deal.

You can't be serious...but obviously you are.

Whether he sampled it into the MPC 60 or just used the MPC to sequence Maschine's sounds....he is still using an MPC and not really using Maschine at all. He is just using Maschine's sample library like any other library. I have Maschine. Its effects are no better than any other piece of software in its price range. Pick any leading DAW (which we all have). The effects that are bundled with these DAWs are equal to and better than anything Maschine has to offer. This is my opinion of course.

Best of both worlds? We have been talking about this for several years now. Nothing new to see here. Just say MPC and (insert your favorite software here) equals best of both worlds. All the sounds of Maschine have just been added to my MPC and Fantom sample libraries and the controller is just collecting dust in the corner. It will stay there until NI upgrades the OS to actually edit samples properly and/or give me a robust controller.

One more thing before I am ghost....why are the mods locking the other MPC versus Maschine threads? That is odd..since there is 1000 threads saying MPC versus (insert whatever you like here) in this forum. Unless something new is on the market, you can't create a thread saying MPC versus "anything" that hasn't already been beat to death. My two cents.

MPC sequencing is easy and useful. If one is familiar with it is a no brainer to sequence your software synth or hardware with your mpc. Maschine has a extensive and brilliant library so you can't front on that. Of course logic and third party effects are outstanding which is common sense; however, machines effects are more capable than mpcs including the 5k. The best of both worlds is recording, arranging, editing, and mixing in the daw which maschine outshines the mpc hence I don't resample or JD either maschine's library into my mpc. It would be redundant. Plus phrase sample editing on the maschine is fast and convient. I also use maschine as a controller for the other software in my DAW. Maschine can be use just by itself without. However as most on this forum use an mpc it to their advantage to use everything in their arsenal to get the best sound. Collecting gear is unproductive, it is better to bang out beats with all you have mastered.
