well i've thought of making sample cd's before, but dont think i'd include anything like that, and if i did, no one would know as i would keep it very subtle :D

I tried making some house music a couple of weeks ago, just to try it out... i got about 3 minutes in and needed to completely walk away. I had to entirely stop my music session for the entire day cause it was ruined.

My friend and I use our 2KXL's for different stuff.

He doesn't really enjoy hip hop or dance or electronica etc... he uses it for metal! The beats he programs are sick! He hasn't been using it much lately as he is playing drums himself. His solo stuff is grindy with crazy changes etc... I watched him program and he does it in step which blows my mind. It sounds like real drummer business. But, of course I have no samples to offer right now. He is a pretty humble dude and doesn't really promote much stuff of his own. The only thing I could link to would be his "organic" band.

EDIT: SPOKE TOO SOON! Here's some Act Of God. Live MPC and guitar badassery! Sorry, don't know how to do the youtube thingy. I guess you can't really hear the MPC much but for the cymbals maybe. Ah well. It's there though. So there is proof of someone not using for dance!

I like to dabble in pretty much everything and the MPC works wonderfully for that. Someone analogized it to a blank piece of paper, that fits perfectly. In have done, noise, hip hop, rock, IDM, whatever. It is a band in a box! If anyone wants to hear any of my stuff the link is below.

One thing I enjoy is running my guitar direct into the sample in, dialing the gain all the way up and using it as a distortion pedal. It is a horribly nasty sound!

I also repair gear and have used it as a poor mans function generator!

I use it for everything! I think it would even be good at home defense(nice and heavy!)

Great forum btw! It's wonderful to see so many users and so much info concentrated!

http://pleasewakeupmusic.blogspot.com/ (A bunch of DL's there if anyone wants, the Happy Birthday DL is a full length rockish thing that has an mpc drummer and sometimes bassist... Pretty much everything has an MPC in one fashion or another)

I make electronica...been doing it a long time.

Ive just arrived to the MPC after spending ten years staring at a DAW. Before that I used an Atari and before that some old hardware sequences so I kind of know what to expect from the MPC's sequencer/feel...and yeah the Atari does have a groove thing about it, but it has to be Cubase on the Atari.

Just a few days in to the MPC workout and Im really enjoying the 'moment' and getting my head away from staring at a computer monitor constantly. So distracting when writing music which Ive known for years. I wont stop using the DAW of course but I need to get away from it for most of the writing process.

Looks like the MPC is about to take over the majority of midi duties.

No wonder my porn music sounds better than my hip- hop!

But seriously, my kid is in high school here in California.. so I helpe him makelike 15-20 gassin beats..I guess that's like a cross of jerk and hyphie with lots of air and a space sound effect.. he gets 50 a pop. Kids pay for the strangest stuff.. aDult artists would burn my studio down if I came at them like that.. I played a few for san quin and he laughed...his buzzing in high-school liked it..haha Lol. He is like a mini beat dealer..8 hours of work for him and he gets paid...

mpc's are versatile as all get-go - it's what i love about the platform.

played a recent show in brooklyn with a friend of mine, had only the mpc, a mopho desktop module and a shitty boss metal distortion pedal. it was pretty fabulous.

this is a practice take of the closer (not as bombastic as the live version, which was sadly unrecorded)

edit: a few years back i stitched this together as a demo for a friend who thought mpc's were indeed "only for hiphop" - 90% of the samples are from a live version of don't stop believing by journey. (i hate that **** song)
