Howdy
Just curious if anyone has attempted to decipher the mpc 2000 xl file formats such as PGM or APS files?
I know homeboy must have done it over at midicase, or at least got part of the way ... MPC Editor does not seem to support APS or deeper pad settings such as vel->tuning or basically anything you'd have to hit OPEN WINDOW on.

I opened a pgm file in a hex editor and I can definitely see a bit of rhyme and reason to sample assignment, but before I get too deep into it I wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone else had done anything similar.

Thanks yall

Two other programs I know of that have deciphered it are Chicken Systems Translator and CDxtract. I doubt seriously if the guys at Chicken Systems would part with that information, at least not for free, but you might ask Garth over there about it. He answers if you call them.

As for CDxtract, it might be worth contacting the author and asking if he might be willing to fork over the info. Most likely it would be another pay-to-play situation but it is worth a try. Depends how bad you want it, I suppose.

Thanks a lot for the info, I had heard about ChickenSys, but never CDXtract. I can't really tell though if both of these programs actually edit MPC pgm/aps info, or just dump samples to the machines.

I probably won't go a paying route as I'm trying to keep this open to all, but it's a good idea.
