Okay, so here's what I mean?

Let's say you've found an ill horn sample, but you've got 2 bars but you want to use all of bar 1 but only the first 2 beats of bar 2. The horn stab on that first 2 beats fades out nicely, so, you'd somehow like to extend the fade out portion of the stab so that it extends over the next 2 beats of that bar.

Here's what I'm imagining in my mind:

Just adding a loop point at the beginning and end of the fade out portion so that, after 2 beats play fully one time, then the fade out portion will continue to loop until you trigger another sample (if you're using one shot sample playback).

Thing is, I think I've tried this before and it didn't sound too natural.

So, I'm trying to figure out if there is a better way to do this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1.) Timestretch the horn sample

2.) Step Edit it into the bars you want it to play thru. You may have to play with Atk/Dcy.
