MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Switched on the machine and Pads 13-16 are not responding.

Saw another thread where other users have had exactly this same problem and the apparent solution is to get a new pad sensor sheet.

One question, if it is the sensor sheet why are ONLY these pads (13-16) affected on all users machines who have reported this ??? Would we not be expecting someone to report another random number pad to fail on the machine (1-12).

This must be a bug and Akai need to address this, which we know they wont as they have stopped caring for the MPC line. If I didnt have so many songs arranged on the hard drive I would throw this against the wall and go back to the 2KXL.

Please could someone advise wheres the best/quickest place to get a new pad sensor sheet in the UK? Or do I have to wait for one from MPCStuff ?

Several reasons why it only those pads, heres a couple;
1) could be a run of defective pad sheets
2) some units may have incurred a crimp in the ribbon
3) people use those pads too much to audition samples
4) could have had a different sensitivity set for those pads without knowing and been actually hitting them harder

There are lots of potential reasons and since it has not been a wide spread problem throughout the 5ks it could even be a MPC production run from a bad day.
