MPC 2000 Not Enough Memory error

i just figured he did good by postin all those pics. And i wanted to let him know i have a 2000 also, so besides memory, i could help him with sh*t. I shouldve been more clear.

I was even happier after I got it setup ....that I was able to find out how to sample .. pressing shift and the 4 key...

well for some reason when i turn my unit it on it will let me sample while other times it will say time too short and then i will try to turn my dial to set a sample time and it doesnt move it jus has dashes through it.. when i hit main screen to check my memory it says "0 megabytes installed" but meanwhile I was jus using and sampling with the mpc like a hour before or so....

I know usually when u go to sample it is supposed to say for the time at least 1 and u can change that to how you please...

I know I have the memory and I am just so confused/frustrated by this problem.. matterfact this is the second unit I have had that does this "on and off memeory thing"

I returned the first unit to get another one from the same seller and it still has the same problem.....

plz guys I hope u can help.. and I am sory if my explanation is a lil confusing..

the mpc comes standard with 2 megs on the motherboard ( which cancels when the ram is maxed ). you can fully load your ram off ebay for bout $15 for 32 megs. Try sampling in mono ( i really havent had to sample in stereo and don't think i will when i can copy tracks ) sampling in stereo eats up the ram twice as much.

before you sample, turn the jog dial all the way up-that will tell you how much you are working with, the more you sample and come close to your limit-you will see that number drop.

I have my machine maxed, and got that message all the time, but it was cause i was sampling like crazy and copying tracks ;like 5 times-big dookie 1minute samples, then making 8 copies so i can go back-i learnd its better one by one, cause your not killing the ram............

one of the ram sticks could be bad.
do you have the flash rom?


on ebay, there's a guy on the westcoast selling ram for the mpc ( specific-so there's no question ) the ramm is manufactured for the mpc in japan by a subcontractor. as official as you can get. pull them dirty stick out and spend $20 on a peice of mind.

whenever you purchase someting new-do a systems check before you get busy, because if something comes up-you have a better idea if you did it, or it lays in the units unknown past. ( which could cause an unknown future )

2 reasons that ramm might not work,


one. cause you didnt ground yourself, or the person who installed it, and potentially fried the ramm, its not in right ( the 2 wings need to click into the dips on the side of the stick )

or

two. anything coming in contact with those scary floral sheets just might fritz.
