Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs

hi.

Do any of you know where they sell tact switches for an mpc 3000 in the UK ? One of my soft buttons has stopped working - also the 'LOCATE' button is also starting to fail on me.

I know mpcstuff does 'tact switches' at $ 8 each, but they're in the mpc 2000 section, so Im not sure if these will work for the 3000. Also I wanted to buy a few, and $ 8 a shot may prove costly.

I think I will learn to solder as the buttons seem to be going one by one. I've also noticed a high pitched sound coming from my mpc (it seems to stop if I move the floppy disk drive around).

Help appreciated.

Doesn't look too promising......

This part has been discontinued by the Supplier with No
Replacement at this time. Once stock has been depleted, this
part will no longer be available.

Can't find a suitable alternative.

Yes, ALPS is not making these anymore.

But Omron is.

Try part number: B3F-6022

http://www.components.omron.com/compone ... F_1109.pdf

Available at Mouser, Digikey, Farnell, etc so there should be a distributor near you.

Also, there is also a seller on eBay selling the ALPS switches for the MPC 3000 in lots of 100 for $9.99 plus shipping.

This is a massive help. Now all I need is a jog wheel encoder (or get used to using the + and - buttons...)
