thats cool and all, but I would rather have double the storage for 10 bucks more.
and the bottleneck is the mpc, so any speed gain in the SSD you posted versus the 32gb 133x CF card used with the adapter I posted above would more than likely be negligible if even noticeable at all.

Hello everyone!

I'm new here (just signed up last night) and this is my first post.
Anywayz, I did this mod on my 2500, thought I'd post some pics of it.
I used a Transcend 32 GB x400 card, (reads at 90 MB/s and writes at 60 MB/s)
Don't know wether the MPC can use the cards max-speeds or not, but I got a good deal on the card so...

PERFECT. and nice job.. the pics look great.

notice any improvement in saving/loading functions?

Thanx man! :D

No, have'nt done any tests yet.. I caught the flu last week and been completely out for the past few dayz.

Plus and more importantly - I'm tryin to figure out what the smartest way to organize all the shit I'm about
to put on the disk, would be...
I mean, the card is gonna be packed with A LOT of loose samples, programs, drumkits, sequences etc. etc.
And I don't want to wake up one day with 20 gigs of good shit on the disk and no clue
how to find the specific sample or drumkit I'm looking for.

My library is a mess right now. Thank god, it still is relatively small..

So..any ideas how to organize wisely?

as far as organization, to each his own.
My 2500 has an 80gb HD and I use an 8GB CF card in the CF slot(not this internal install like you performed).

They way I organize mine is as such..
The 80gb HD has several main folders in the root directory.
ALL Projects (the heart of it all, all my song projects)
ALL Sounds (for single sounds)
Autoload(rarely used)
Beats 4 Sale
Chopped Samples
Drum Kits(favorite go to kits)
Guitar&Bass
Extras/FX/Vox
LoopsNbreaks
Movie & TV
MultiSamples
Random Sh*t
SONGS2Pads (Audio samples of song ideas(sequences) that I sample and assign to pads for easy playback and recall)

I just used the word ALL before projects and sounds since I wanted those first on the list when I goto the root of the HD, as those are my most accessed folders.
Despite having multiple folders underneath those, almost everything gets saved as a PROJECT. so I do have alot of duplicate stuff scattered around. But mpc files tend to be pretty small, and the convenience of being able to load a project consisting of several programs, samples, direct audio takes, and sequences & fx ALL AT ONCE is priceless. so I dont mind the wasted space.

As for the CF card, I mostly use it to move stuff between the PC and the MPC, and to take full song projects to other studios where an mpc (1k,5k, 25k) is present.

Every month or so I connect the mpc to the pc via USB, to backup the contents of the 80gb internal.
and thats pretty much it. Thats my method, and it works for me. Although your mind may be wired a lot differently and you may find a better method to your madness.

Thanks again man!

Don't know exactly how I'll do it yet, but BIG UPS for sharing your way to do it!

I got it from a local (Finnish) web-shop. I had to drill holes in mine, but I've seen adaptors with the holes ready.
As theese adaptors probably are made for those who want to mod their laptops to boot faster, I can't really see
why most of these adaptors don't come in the same size as the 2,5" IDE harddrives, with the holes matching and all.

Anyways, I'll post the link in this thread if I can find it.

But this is where I got mine from: http://www.halvathinnat.fi/magento/compact-flash-to-44-pins-ide-adapter-for-laptop-2-5-hdd-bootable.html

Edit:
Allright, don't know if theese links are any good but maybe you get something out of them?

Think I found the best adapter for everyone thinking about doing this mod!

This one looks really f***in perfect!!! :P

Just have a look at the specifications:

* 44-pin (male) IDE connector (notebook style)*
* 2.5" notebook hard drive size
* This adapter is powered from the IDE connector
* Dimensions: 3.5" x 2.75" (88.9 x 69.8 mm)
* Supports CompactFlash cards (Type I & II) or an IBM Microdrive
* Transparent to the operating system and does not require any drivers
* Same mounting hole locations as bottom holes of a 2.5" notebook HDD

=> (Should fit the Akai HDM-10 harddrive tray like a hand in the motherfu**in glove)

EDIT: inflict3 - You go get it now!
