Seems im still fairly new to that whole issue.

Nevermind, found an (obvious) solution on my own!

would you mind to share that with us - maybe someone is also interested in this topic.
there are some people on this boards who like to do live sets and looping as well.

Damn, had to find out you can't change to the next sequence after you've once been in record mode and switched to loop playback... that sucks hard.... dont know how to solve that.

Yea, of course... They work. Hm, would that actually mean I'd have to have all tracks from verses, hooks, bridges and intros in one sequence? And is there a way i can trigger track mutes like 2 bars before or something ? So that i can say all specific tracks from the intro should be muted as soon as the sequence switches to bar 1 again while being able to 'unmute' the tracks from the verse in the meantime?

Hope you get what i mean... :?

If you have quick fingers you can change sequences in between too. And I'm pretty sure anything else you imagine as well, you just have to prepare your sequences properly. Just play around with it, it's pretty powerful.

Could you tell me what you mean by this ?
It's pretty important for me, as this nasty little feature would eventually cost me 200+ € for some looper.

Thanks in advance!

Finallyy... after a lot of thinking about how to arrange tracks & sequences i found a solution similar to the session view of ableton live. Basically the whole 'live set' will now be stored inside a 2 bar sequence, with probably all tracks mapped accross all pads on all pad banks. Hope you got what i mean and most probably most of ya all who do live stuff are already having a similiar approach.

Compared to ableton's session view it's quite limited - basically only 56 'audio clips' are possible. But this way i finally found a solution to go for (more or less) complex arrangements recorded on the fly from scratch - without once touching the next sequence button.
THIS lack of possibility is actually a pain in the ass... i highly doubt it would have been hard for Akai or JJ to implent the 'feature'. I even found out, that in one recent OS it still was possible to change sequences while being in overdub mode. Sucky development.

Anyways, thanks for the help - i dont need the Boss RC.

Now i guess i have to invest some time in complex Mute Groups, in order keep sh!t rolling tightly.

Track Mute Screen -> Next Sequence Button -> Pad Button -> Change Sequence -> Track Mute Button

Hm? That doesn't work if you have been in Overdub mode before. If it DOES in any way you make my **** day. We're talking about the MPC 1k playing and having been in record mode before?

you can also trigger a sequence change via program change message from another midi instrument. the mpc will switch to the sequence with the same number as the incoming program change message. try if this is possible while in overdub mode.

if akai only implemented a simple value up or down function to the footswitch settings. then we would be able to change any field in any screen one step up or down with a footswitch. sadly the footswitch only can trigger f1 to f6 but this would not help here.
maybe the other footswitch functions can help you in a live situation - overdub/play rec/punch or overdub/punch.
also note that these functions act different depending on wether you are in play or overdub mode.
and you can have two different footswitches setup.

Thanks mate. Footswitches are a handy thing, indeed... but what i will definitely try when i come home is the PCM thing you mentioned above. I'll check if it works with my MPD... thats my last hope actually.

@ stilo

Of course i know that i'm able to switch sequences while being in play mode! ;)
But i want to record everything from scratch basically... I guess only the track mute approach would work this way.
