mpc1000 output volume

Hi,

I've heard a lot of people complain about the low volume output of the mpc500 (i'm guessing to allow it to be more battery friendly). I was wondering if the mpc1000 was any better?

Also I'm planning on buying either a 1000 or 500 as a back up to my laptop sequencing for live. Has anybody had any problems with either of the 2 models reliability live? Would you say they are a safer bet than a laptop?

any advice would be great,

the mpc1k is loud n clear and stable but a decent laptop will be stable also the whole crashing idea is not a prevalent as it once was.
