MPC3000 Memory check

How can I check the amount of RAM installed on an mpc3000??

Turn your MPC3000 on and ensure that no samples, programs, sequences etc have been loaded.

IE: Cold boot. Nothing loaded.

Then ...

Insert a disk with some MPC3000 format *.SND files on. ( don't load any ).

1: DISK > 7

The machine will display the amount of free RAM for *.SND, *.SET, *.ST2, *.PGM, *.APS if any of these types are selected on screen for loading.

2: PROGRAMS/SOUNDS > 9

The SAMPLE DUMP will show available amount of RAM in MEGAWORD's rather than MEGABYTES like option 1.

3: PROGRAMS/SOUNDS > 5

Read off the maximum amount of sampling time that you can enter to get an idea how much RAM is installed.

For a MONO sample selected in this screen.

Divide the seconds showing by 60 and then multiply by 5.

The resulting figure will be the rougly very close to how much ram is installed in MEGABYTES.

4: Open the machine up and chek what RAM is installed.

The above figures state quite clearly that your machine is installed with 16 megabyte of RAM.

I will look into expanding.

When i go to Programs/Sounds > 9 I get 5175K
And my max stereo sampling time is 58,6.
How much ram does that give?

Megawords of 5175 ?

That would be Megabytes of 10350 .

Your machine has 10 megabytes of RAM.

Most likely configured as 2 x 4mb SIMMS and an EXM3002 memory board.
