Beats by Dr Dre??

do you guys think that the dr dre beats Studio are worth it? i think there around 350 so i mean they must be good but are the good enough to replace some standard class studio monitors?

im looking to move into an apartment soon n some good headphones are my next big purchase n im looking at the beats n then the price and wondering who thinks their worth it

I'm skeptical about these dude... like when HP started paying producers to pretend that they didn't use apple. Im know they sound OK, but your paying to cover for the DRs endorsement...

I bought the Grado SR60i recently, and havent looked back (flat response, and really light on the head/ear, a good replacement for the monitors when it gets late...)

There's also the SR8s which are improved further and still at half the price of the good doctors.

I got the Tours (earbuds) for running and those are the schit! Thinking of buying the Studios or Pros for djing and for in the sudio.

I had the Solos and I loved them. the sound quality was really good. Ive also used the studios and they sounded amazing. But the build quality is very poor. I went through 2 solos before I just said f**k it and got my money back. The Studios on the other hand are built better but my homies who have them have had them brake. You could just get some nice AKGs for like a hundred dollars less.

Beats are nice but the price is based on the name (Dr. Dre and Monster Audio). IMO they sound a noch better than Skullcandy headphones. The Bose AE2 and Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO are really good.

Sennheiser is, in my opinion, by far the best bang for your buck headphone you can get.

As for these headphones...really? Dre sells Dr. Pepper and McDonald's now too, do you think he's cooking your nuggets?

For $350 dollars on headphones, stay away from Wal Mart and Best Buy.

Also keep in mind that Beats by Dr Dre are noise canceling. This works by inverting phase from the outside source in order to cancel out those frequencies in your feed. As such, they are effectively changing the sound that reaches your ears. Fine for leisure but not really useful for critical listening.

I use the Sony MDR-7506's. they are not the most comfortable to wear for long periods of a time, but they sound great and they are great for mixing. they are also $99


A friend of mine has the Audio Technica ATH-M50's. they are real comfortable to wear and sound great. good for mixing too. they are $159

people are actually willing to drop that much on a gimmick set of headphones just cause it has dr dre's name on it?

if you are that much of a dre fan, you should maybe look into what he uses to monitor.... I doubt he even needs to wear headphones in the treated room he works in...

Yeah the Beats headphone are pretty expensive. I check them out at the apple store when they first came out. They're clearly priced high because Dre and Monster endorse them. They even have a pair of Lady Gaga headphones. Oh well, its good to see Dr Dre advertising his name. The number of albums Detox will sell will probably be incredible-not to mention it'll probably be more expensive than an average album.
