Has any else came across these problems?

When in trim mode, every time i scroll through my samples/ chops it plays the sample automatically, iv never had this happen before? its also the same when i scroll through the samples in Program mode.

When im on the main screen, for some reason i can no longer scroll through the programs using the Data wheel, i now have to press [Window] and go in to program to scroll through my programs?

And 16 levels has just stopped working, im not sure if all these problems are related, iv never had any trouble like this at least nothing that couldn't be sorted without the help of this forum.

Im using JJOS1 v499

Thanks

sounds like one of your pads is depressed, and i don't mean sad
go into your pad configuration mode (sensitivity settings) and look to see which one is stuck down.
adjust the note on level to something higher. i have mine set at 16. this is os2xl, i don't know what the deal is in os1 4.99

should be an easy fix, and yes the problems appear to be related.

Hey Crothers Thanks for quick reply,
Thanks for the advice i found the culprit, but now it looks like pad 13 is always pressed down, and i cant adjust anything for this pad on this setting as pad 13 wont respond?

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/padsence.htm

pad on level. it's a global setting, applies to all pads. turn it up until pad 13 turns itself off/starts responding again.
if you go all the way up and it still is triggering, you may have either a bent case or a faulty pad (unlikely).
again, i got mine on 16. pad 04 behaves like yours does when i do a reset and the pad on level is reset to 6 or whatever

Yeah Pad 13 got that little thin line on the pad setting screen on at all times.
Like when you press and hold the pad, its always triggering no matter how much i adjust even when i try and select all and adjust it.

So can i assume that i need to buy a replacement part?

look at your bottom right pad
take the bottom right corner of the bottom right pad in your grubby fingers
pull at it. gently, but enough to do this experiment.
if the pad corner comes out, you've got the new pads. put the corner back in.
if the pad corner doesn't come out, you've got the old pads and you're looking at spending $180

before you do that, are you absolutely SURE that you turned the "pad level on" value to 16 or higher?

i forget if in os4.99 you can set it different per every pad, but in os2xl, it's a global setting.
regardless, hit f6 ALL and then adjust the pad level on value.
you need to do this and tell me whether or not you done it before spending money you don't have to
i've never heard of the new pads experiencing this problem so odds are you just haven't adjusted the value i mentioned

iv tried it globally by selecting allwith a value of 16 or higher, but that little thin line on the right hand side of each pad display is constantly there. When i adjust pad sensitivity (globally) to 2 pad 13 registers a little bit of a thin line (like im applying a minimal amount of pressure) and as soon as i adjust the sensitivity to above 16 the sensitivity indicator moves up some more, and if i put it on max to 25 the indicator is jammed right to the top.
pad 13 just doin its own thing, and if i try to select pad 13 on its own, nothing happens, he just sits there continuing to press down of his own accord, its like he just wont depress, stubborn little shit.

ok. try taking the faceplate panel off your mpc and booting it up nekked without its faceplate.
very easy to take it off/put it back on, just a handful of screws. you'll also have to take off the front panel that covers the headphone jack and the CF card slot. there's an extra faceplate screw hidin under there
when it's off, boot it up and enter pad sensitivity. see if that pad is still acting up.
if so, your pad is screwed up.
if not, your faceplate is applying pressure to the pad where it shouldn't and more experimentation is needed.

did you buy this machine used? new? recently?

I tried taking the faceplate off, and started it up naked but still no good.
It seems like the little balck sensor is squashed tight, because on all the other pads theres a tiny amount of movement, i mean real small, like .00001 mm or sumthing but pad 13 got nothing.
I spoke to Akai today and they sending me out a new sensor sheet and 4 new tact switches (cursors are a bit stiff) all for £40
I got it new about 4 years ago, so it done alright not to have any problems til now.

Damn.... Akai were quick, it took 22 hours from the phone call to the new parts turning up at my house...
And Problem Solved!!!
Just for anyone else in the UK, £30 for a new sensor sheet.

Thanks for your help tho Crothers, i owe you a beer.

Peace
