I just wanted to know if anyone out there knew, where to cop the memory expansions or if anyone had tried the plans of the TX16W homepage to piggyback ram onto the TX.
I only have access to one with the stock 1.5 mb, and figure I'll want more memory at some point.

Try This Link. This company called mutec out of Germany makes memory expansions.

http://www.mutec-net.de/

I'm in the same boat trying to get the expansion...I don't know about ordering memory all the way from Germany but seems like the only option right now.

As far as modifying 4mb simms - I've seen the faq on the homepage and wouldn't dare damage the sampler doing it.

Post if you come across anything.

Peace

If you're good at soldering(?) it doesn't look too difficult. Try subscribing to the tx16w mailinglist on that site to get some feedback. I've been thinking about doing it myself, i have 3mb now and could do with some more.
Mutec should be realiable, i've ordered from them before (they also make a lot of mpc stuff) and it took a few days. I think to the states will be about a week or so.

Word. I took the mod I printed off of the net to my buddy who is an EECS geek (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and he told me that he could do the mod in a couple of hours, but adivised that the soldering is REAL tough, as in I have done mods on my turntables that involve soldering soi I'm no novice but he said I would likely fry it pretty bad.
Basically he said that if you have not got some sort of electical engineering background (not that you studied it, but that you have spent time working with electrical parts and engineering small devices) stay away from it if you like your sampler.
this is the same buddy who built me a mic preamp off of plans he found on the net so I trust his opinion.

That makes sense, you're soldering pretty close to the memory itself so you need Luke Skywalker soldering skills.
I was just reading my previous post, it said: "Try subscribing to the tx16w mailinglist on that site to get some 'fluffy'.
What does that mean, "fluffy". I'm 100% sure i typed "feedback". Some body is hacking this site and changing my posts!

Hey what's good...I'm lookin in gettin a TX16W real soon but I was just wondering if it was possible to transfer the new Typhoon 2000 OS to the TX16W if I have Win XP...oh yeah and how much sample time does the stock 1.5 MB give you? thanx alot peace

You can just put Typhoon on a floppy, and it will load in the tx16w.
I'm not sure how much sampletime 1.5mb gives, it also depends on the samplerate you're using.
If you can, try to find a tx16w with full memory upgrade. The memory is hard to find and more expensive than the sampler by now.
