Midi Help for mpc 4000 and Phantom.

Man if anybody can help me please feel free to respond to this. I have a Roland Phantom XA and a Mpc 4000. I want to record Midi notes from Phantom into my Mpc 4000 on top of my samples and drums. Keyboard is hooked to a mixer . I hear the keyboard fine through mixer but see no signal going into the Mpc in the Sequence Main Screen. I have the Midi cables connected correctly Midi Out of the Mpc to the Midi in of the keyboard and Midi out from the keyboard into the Midi in of MPc. Please help me somebody. Do i have to do a Global setting on the Mpc or Misc setting Or Midi?

remember how back in 2002/2003, we used to get threads like this from guys who'd just stolen their MPC4000 by burgling someone's house so they could pay for more crack, but they decided to make a hit record with it first before selling it?
