Ensoniq ASR-10 help, for ASRonians.

according to the 9th point (on the right hand side of the first link below..) you can convert audio-tracks to wav with Ensoniq MDT.

Thanks blipz, i don't think that question was asked before.. anyway I'm recording right now straight to the MPC2500 and then i just move wav files via USB to PC -- works for me.

i'll die with my asr-10 and 2000xl....those are my babys

so i got a CF card reader for my asr-10 for christmas

i took the back plate off the asr-10 today to try to install it (with the asr-10 service manual), and this is sooo complicated

has anyone here done this? and how?

i located the digital and analog boards but i don't know how to detach the 34-pin ribbon cable, and i read ahead in the instructions and everything else looks even more complicated. do i need to buy any more parts for this because it's talking about attaching ribbon cables here and there, an ohmmeter, etc.

Next question -- I'm trying to emulate in the ASR-10 the behavior of MPC sequencer when i can just set the sequence to 1 bar and when i press record it just loops itself.

On the ASR-10 when i press record the sequence goes on for forever unless i hit stop. Is there any way to limit the recording to just 1 bar?

One question for you ASRonians: mpc3000 or asr-10?

for the first question, try going to Edit - Sequence - Record Mode. you can pick from Replace, Add, and Loop.

second question- there might be a better way but what i would do is hit record, let it run through 1 bar without hitting any keys, and then hit stop. from then on, the sequence will be 1 bar long. or maybe before you do anything at all you could go straight to Command - Sequence - Change Sequence Length, and add 1 bar.

Yeah, that's what i figured out, or record 2 bars and then just delete the last bar.

You can't do that -- you see "sequence is empty" message.

It seems you can't arbitraly set the sequence to 1 bar before you start recording though or is there another way?

Next question -- what's the difference between "copy track" and "merge two tracks". The Musician's Manual is not very precise on that...

ASR has everything licked for sampling.

copy track means copy track 2 to track 3.

merge means add track 1&2 together

Yeah got it. Merge just adds your copied notes information to the existing ones.

When you create a sequence using [command/seq/create new seq] it is empty. So that's why i asked the original question. It seems there is no other way to set the sequence to say 1 bar when it's empty -- you need to press record for that.

ASR is like that.


just pre record nothing for exact bar length. The ASR is pretty good about knowing that you wanted 4 bars... not 4.25 bars or whatever.

ok, next question -- how to *permanently* lower the volume of some instruments tracks... it seems that whenever the sequence loops it goes back to 99.
