Saving the pad assignment with the program (3000)

After I save a beat on the MPC 3000, turn it off, then on and go back to it, the sounds are saved, but they are not designated to the pads they were assigned to. I have to remember exactly which pad each sound was assigned to in order to recall the beat. This shouldn't be happening should it? Shouldn't a program save the pad assignments? How do I save the pad assignments with the program?

English manual, RTFM Chapter 11, Printed Page 209:

Assigning pads to note numbers is done in the following screen,
accessed by pressing the MIDI key then selecting option 1 from the
menu:

• The Mode field:

program is changed, the newly selected program’s assignments
will be used. This choice is useful if you want each
program to use a unique set of pad-to-note assignments.

2. MASTER:
A single master set of pad-to-note assignments will be
used. These assignments will apply to all programs and
will not change unless manually changed. These settings
are stored in the PAR file. This choice is useful if you like
the pad-to-note assignments to always stay where you
last put them.

I've already assigned each sound to a pad number, but the problem persists. I think it may be a glitch, but I need feedback from board members.

Again, each sound has been assigned to a pad number and saved in the Program, yet when I turn off the machine, then turn it on again later to work on the beat, the sounds are in the Program bank, but they are not matched with their pads number, a la, when I hit the pads, no sound plays.

What is the "MODE" option set to within the menu MIDI, SOFT KEY 1 ?

The Mode is set to "Program."

Re-initialize your system parameters. ( OTHER menu )

Re-boot your machine. ( Power Cycle ON/OFF )

Load one of the Program files.

I'm still having problems. Just to clarify, I found out that the problem occurs when I switch from one sequence to another in SONG mode. After I switch from one sequence to another, my sounds disappear from their pad assignments. I have to reload the PROGRAM, usually several times, before they reappear. Then when I switch sequences, the problem happens all over again.

However, I have not run the system param reboot, should I go ahead and try that, Rohan?
