Certain Record has Slowdowns?

Yo,,, I'm bugging out. I haven't sampled off vinyl in a while, but I got some new wax so I'm back into it. But it seems like some records will slow down / pitch down every few seconds, kind of randomly.

Does a damaged record do this, or more likely my tt is funked up? The table is nothing fancy, one of those portable joints but I never had this problem before.

Sounds like a warped record.

Does the tonearm stand still in its position when you play the record or does it "swing" a bit from left to right?
If it "swing" than it is the record if not it could be the belt of the turntable or something is wrong with the motor.

yes, some record got the grooves pressed not exactly centered with the hole

Same thing I was thinking.
Isn't there a way to fix a warped record? I think I heard about placing a record between two phone books and leaving it in the sun or something like that.

Belt doesn't cost a billion. Open the TT (pull the powerplug before!) or take of the platter. you should find infos about how to change the belt in your case (your turntable model) with the help of google (or do you have a manual?)

Another possibility could be the electrical current. The electric current should be 120V, a majority of the time the current can range from 90V to more than 135V. The lower the current, the slower your turntable will move.

Sounds crazy I know, but have you ever noticed the lights in the place dim for a second or 2 when the AC unit turns on?

Change the belt, especially if you haven't done so lately. I tend to go through a belt every 2 years or so. It makes a world of difference

and just so you know, replacing the belt is surprisingly easy... there are even videos online and it's real simple...
