Question for MPC2500 / Macbook users re: audio interfaces

From all accounts selecting an audio interface that works well depends on the specific bits of equipment its connecting - so if anyone else out there happens to be successfully tracking their MPC 2500's 8 outputs into a white Macbook from 2007 I would be very interested to know what gadget you are using.

From what I've read at Gearslutz, Macbooks from 2006 and prior had no problems with audio interfaces via their firewire inputs, but people who purchased the 2007 or later Macbook models had problems using firewire...

you would probably like an audio interface with 8 inputs plus midi, then, or what? the alternative is to use an interface with fewer inputs, and record track by track. 8 inputs should make tracking a bit more comfertable.

i don´t use a white macbook or an mpc 2500, but have been researching 8 input-interfaces a bit. I bought an alesis io 26 (http://www.alesis.com/io26) and do not recommend it. bad build-quality. outputs stop working one by one, and i have only had it for two years.

how much money do you want to spend? do you need mic-preamps? do you use any outboard effects that you would like to connect to your mac? do you think you will want to expand the system later?(then you should get an interface with ADAT in+out, for the possibility for more tracks in and out of your mac)

most firewire-interfaces should work with most DAWs on mac, so it´s just up to what you need(ins/outs) and how much you want to spend(more or less equals quality of interface).

i have late model of 09 and no firewire problems so far

Word dude. I work in a music store and we stopped carrying these cuz they break so much...
