since i couldn't find a thread on either, i figured i'd post about them both, they can share.. really, what is there to say?
http://www.akaipro.com/mpd26
http://www.akaipro.com/apc20

they're apparently $200. i hear some of you guys saying wakai is falling off since there's no hardware coming out, just controllers. but i think the future holds true that software is the new hardware, controllers are the new interaction between artist and technology. they're only gunna get better and better and cheaper and cheaper. we should rejoice. they're making our lives easier. whether we're professional or hobbyists. i got my mpc up for sale for an mpd32 right now. switching to software. i'll eventually get an mpc again because i grew up with it, and learned how to do my thing on it.

you know whats just ironic, i'm saving up to get an mpd32 and an apc40 for my dj set to use w/ ableton..... how weird is it they come out with both these things in mini form?? but less knobs... ehh who is akai trying to market to? newbie pros? i still think i'm gunna have to go with the apc40 and mpd32. but these are interesting on their own. anyone planning on copping one?

shit is getting hard to keep track off how many mpd versions fakai released in past few months...if that was apc80 I prolly wouldnt think twice about selling my 40 to get that.

I thought I'd revive this topic since I just ordered an APC20 from Amazon for $136.59. I'm still working with my MPC, but I want to do more with Ableton as well. If I really like the workflow with the APC20, I'd like to buy an APC40 as well for more control.
Anyone else around here using the APC20 or APC40?

Good to see more people replying to this topic. It's the only one I found. I know there's plenty of Ableton users around here for a while. I'm still behind. But I finally upgraded my PC, so that I can record enough tracks on a DAW. Before that I've been 2-tracking all my hardware from a mixer in to Wavelab and mastering from there. Now it's time to catch up with Ableton's learning curve and have a nice tight hardware/software integraton flowing. I don't need no stinking Maschine when Ableton, APC20, Axiom 49, the MPC1000 (and all my other gear) will all work like a charm.

That Framework script looks amazing. I just returned my APC40 because I wanted an interface that I could use for more than a clip launch, faders & rotary dials. Just shoot me now! I had ordered it months ago and went with the cheap Korg controllers (Nano). I purchased an Akai MPD32 to work with Logic and Battery 3. However, for the price of an Akai APC, you can't get better than that for a step-sequencer! Thanks for sharing that.

I'm still behind on the whole software thing too. Was a dabbler, but now wanting to take the plunge. Invested in Logic, Ableton (had for a while), and Battery. I'm really hoping that the MPD will give me some of the same user experience of my MPC.
