A few easy questions that I need help with...please

1st Q: How do you save a [song] file as a .mp3? Can I do it using Akai Sys?

2nd Q: What is the best music program [software] to use with a mac?

I have a Triton keyboard, MPC 4000, turntables, and a G4 powerbook.

I want to make sure that I'm getting the most out of my studio. Any suggestions would be great.

I don't think you can save a song as a mp3 file in the mpc or with aksys, you need to have an audio editing software that can convert wav or Aiff to
mp3.

As for music program for mac there are many but it depends what kind of software, if you want a sequencer, an audio editor etc...

If it's an audio editor for editing samples, then it has to be PEAK in combination with Recycle.... those work perfectly in combination. edit your
loops and add vst effects etc, then chop it up in recycle, save as Akai program and then just dump the whole thing into the mpc via Aksys.... samples already assigned to pads... it's a real time saver.

i also use protools for editing samples using the rtas plug ins but another soft like recycle is usefull to create akai programs in one click
