I just got MPC1000 and was trying to track out a beat and noticed you cannot solo /song mode each track like you can on the XL. I worked out you need to convert your song into a massive sequence and solo each track like that. But when you convert the song into the sequence it seems to mute all your sequence according to your first sequence in the song?.

How are you guys doing this?.

You can find that information on the akai manual :

04. In the Track status field, select the track status after
conversion to a sequence.
REFERENCED TO 1ST SQ :
The setting data (such as MIDI output, Mixer
setting, Tempo, etc) of each track in the 1st Sequence
of the Song will be used for all tracks in
the following sequences.
MUTE TRACKS IGNORED :
The muted tracks in the sequences of the Song
will not be converted.
MERGED ON MIDI CHANNEL
The track in the sequence of the Song will be
merged to the track according to the MIDI output
channel.

then

Note : During Song Conversion
(When selected “REFERENCED TO 1ST SQ and
MUTE TRACKS IGNORED)
When you convert a song, the specific settings used in each track
within the sequence, such as track type, MIDI channel setting,
selection of the program, etc, will be set to the values that you set
in step 1. If the track setting of the sequence in another step is
different from those in the step 1, the song may not be converted
properly. To avoid this, it is better to make the track settings and
the order of each sequence the same. For more information on
how to change the order of the tracks, see the “Changing the order
of the tracks” section on page 30.

really?!?!, wow.

I would have though you should be able to convert a complete song into a sequence while keeping all your muting and MIDI info regardless if its on the 1st sequence or 20th.

You telling me JJ was updating that OS the whole time and thats the best it gets?

I dont deny this,

but i was just commenting how it would have been a good idea to maybe update that function. You telling me if i have 9 sequences all with different track mutes on multiply track i cannot convert them to one sequences without formatting all that info?.

the name is misleading it should be "muted tracks ignored" or something
if you choose that option everything will be ok
