Two things to understand about floods
1) if it's not salt water or heavy residue it's not as bad
2) if it gets to thoroughly dry prior to power on it's many electronic devices can survive

We had a storage facility that during a flood had the hot water tank floating in the water.
At least 11 power amps survived with no issue and out of about 37 speaker cabs only 2 suffered any damage.
With most double cabs to only lose 2 woofers was a good percentage.

One thing I will say about that MPC is it show a lot of signs of neglect but most of it looks superficial.
So it's still a good chance there are internals that can be made use of.

I hate to see signed MP's no matter who signed them.

But seeing as the seller is "unable" ie: unwilling to test it, there's no telling what it's been through- that all I was getting at

It's probably safe to assume the internals are caked in grime as well.

Those of us that have been around have seen this happen before, where grimey MPC60's don't know why it seems to always be 60's start showing up.

They always have the 4 bolt positions at the data wheel and volume knob, pads that look like someone sh*t on them, grungy face, torn arm pad (mkI) or cigarette burns (mkII) etc.
Goes back to the early hip hop days of it ain't mine so I don't care.
You know the same kinda guy who broke the toliet and didn't care.

Never understood how someone could dog gear the way some people do.

MkI has 3.10e-Memory Exp-SCSI-new backlight
MkII has 3.10e-new backlight-new pad sensors

yeah, I considered it for parts/repair, but I don't have much extra room or a good place to clean it off - I didn't want to touch it.

Nope.
I didn't even need them they were just too good a deal to pass on.

The 60 is headed down the same path as the ASR10 for being canibalized for parts which means no 60 can be overlooked for it's potential value for parts.

I don't understand who would let an MPC get into that state and devalue it by keeping it in such poor condition.

The grungy MP wasn't too bad.
The insides weren't filthy, showed no sign of warter damage etc.
Looks like it just had users with poor hygene.
I gutted the unit which was my intent all along my son took pictures with his cell phone so they are dark I may try to change the contrast on them but I'll post them.
Here's the real kicker there was no reason why I couldn't have used this MP except the condition of the case.
I removed parts and tested them in my unused 60 and heres the list of what parts I ended up with:
-All pwba's tested functional w/ 2.12 OS eproms included
-US power supply works
-Transformer works
-Inverter works
-floppy drive works (had been replaced so it's a relatively new drive)
-display had no blemishes but OEM backlight was dim (ordered replacement)
-pad sensors work
-pads have lots of life in them and dirt came right off
-volume knob with no static
-data wheel with no jitter
-working contrast pot
-end caps that aren't scuffed up
-hinges for flip display
-all ribbons and interconnects were in really good condition
-arm rest with just a small crack


All N All it was a good buy.
