I am interested in getting into producing. I purchased an ion Profile Pro usb turntable with input to convert old records to mp3 or wav files on my laptop. I am looking into purchasing an mpc 2000 (mainly because used ones are around $400 and Kanye used one) and was wondering what programs I would need (if any) to start producing / sampling.

I was mainly interested in the mpc 2000 because it seems to be around $400 used and Kanye used one. Be mindful of the fact that I am COMPLETELY new to this and just need some advice or uplift. Thanks.

One thing to learn is that NONE of the MPC's utilize .MP3 files.

Look harder on Craigslist and you'll find a 2000XL for $400 pop up from time to time.
And before you ask whats the dif between a staight 2K and and XL:
