Yo, I've had the 8 outs card for my 2kxl for over a year now and still have never been able to use it. I don't get a signal through any of the outs....does anyone know if I'm missing a setting in the Os to change it from going out of the stereo outs or what? I spent $250 on the card and so far its been a waste of money and I'm still tracking everything 1 track at a time...which is tedious...

You have to assign pads to each output, how else would the MPC know which sound to send where?

Also, keep in mind it works on a PAD basis not a TRACK basis. One track can send 8 pads to 8 different outs at the same time, if you wanted. It sounds backwards at first, but it's actually more flexible and better for mixing later. All your bass drums will be on one track, and your snares on another, etc.

Damn dude. A year and a wad of cash and you didn't think to check the manual?

I'm not big on Manual's...LOL...

But yea, The whole pad not track thing makes no sense to me. I make my beats with each individual sound on its own track...I guess i'll have to snoop around on the screens and figure out how to assign the pads...thanks for the tip...

on a side note i figured that the first 8 tracks used would just be tracks 1 to 8 on the 8 outs...i wish it was that simple...rrrrrrr

well, think about it a little further...
if it were that simple, what about track 9?

also, what if each track is used for more than just one sound? like what if i have a full beat on track 1, and a variation on track 2?

do you see now?

by setting PAD1, which is my bass drum, to go to OUT1, no matter what I have in my tracks, I know that my bass drum will always go to the same place.

Gotcha....Yea see i usually only use my 2kxl for drum tracks and 1 to 3 sample tracks...so usually id be right around 8 tracks that i need to record to pro tools...I think i understand what your saying....Where in the O.s do i look to change the outputs tho? nothing is coming up anywhere that i can see where i can assign pads to outs...

It's in the mixer screen, there is a field called 'indiv'. hit that.

At this point I got to say.....manual. It's all in there. It's in the same language I'm typing in, written by professionals, and it's got pictures. ;]
