Wow. I just came back after 3 years since last thread and Im a window shopper for asking about this light. So glad to be back. :? Id rather spend more money and solder myself if this one isnt great. Just tryng to get some info. Wasnt tryng to douche it up or window shop. I sold my 60 years ago and have been using my 1000 since. Tryng to get a 3000 and just looking at backlights.

Looks like your last post was Monday? Lmao...

Don't mind the guys, but it's a good product sold by a helpful dude...and on top of that, it's half the price of other backlights out there...why not take a gamble? :D

Cell wrote:Yeah it looks pretty much like the sellers ebay pic. Still from the pic I cant really tell how good it is. It does look really bright, but the background looks very whitish though. Can anyone comment on how this compares to the original factory backlight? Thank you for posting up the pic! :D

I, ve got my backlight from the same ebay seller -
price is right, packaging great , arrived promptly.
here are few thoughts though:

Installation:
disassambling the screen
was tricky, i have just slide the new backlight on top of the old one.

The Quality:
it is bright blue ( already much better than my dead backlight) but the white letters aren't very bright or high contrast ...
donno if its the same as original backlight or worse...
have no idea if its the quality of backlight that influences the contrast or the Screen LCD itself?

here is a pic , but it has extra external room light straight on the screen so it increases the letters contrast.

Thank you. This is the kind of info I was looking for. Its been awhile but i remember seeing a mpc 3000 when they first came out and the screen seemed to be a darker blue with very clear whiter lettters. But my memory could be wrong. Anyways thanks for posting helpfull info and pic.

i have no idea how the original MPC3000 backlight screen
should look like , but cannot believe that AKAI would come up with à
backlight that looks as washed out and low contrast as mine in late 1990's
for its LE special edition?

anyone?

buy one.

its bright and probably waaaaay better than the one that came in the machine

Anyways, I found a cheap, great shape LE with free flight case. I upgraded the memory and OS to 3.50. Sorting my CF reader now and put in one of these backlights. Like stated in this thread, Matt is a great guy. My only worry was the contrast and color, which both turned out great. I wanted to post 2 good pics of this backlight so you can actually see what it looks like. The first is taken with full bright lights on (the marks are reflection) and the second in complete dark. I would say they look about %90 accurate. The contrast and color is even a little darker.

thanks for posting, looks like mine ( also solderless EL-Foil)
but don't the letters supposed to be white or at least have more contrast versus blue ?
how is it on the original one - i have no idea ....?
anyone who knows/remembers the original MPC3000 screen with backlight could clarify that?
By Clint Sat Mar 19, 2011 7:29 pm
+1 about Matt.

Hooked me up with a EL foil for another piece (S-950).

That 3000 video will come in handy when I get round to changing my backlight.
